Hello Nostalgia, the Jonas Brothers are back
Looks like the Jonas Brothers are going back to the “Year 3000”, with their new tour titled FIVE ALBUMS: ONE NIGHT. Yes, that is right, they will be performing five of their albums in one night. One could say that they are doing their own version of an “Era’s Tour…” With 66 songs sung, this trio successfully keeps viewers on their feet for the three-hour-long show. Different from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the brothers take a brief intermission during the concert, allowing the crowd to take a break, go to the bathroom, get a bite to eat, or some water. Although 66 songs may seem like a lot, they do not sing the entirety of every single song. They put some of their older songs as medleys, creating a sweet sound of reminiscence. As most know, during their five-year hiatus after the tragic “break-up” of the band, Joe and Nick released some of their own music. The duo includes two of their most famous solo songs during the show, including Nick singing his hit, “Jealous” and Joe singing his iconic song “Cake by the Ocean” with his DNCE band members.
The brothers perform songs from their first self-titled album released in 2007. These songs included “S.O.S., Hold On, Goodnight, and Goodbye, That’s Just the Way We Roll, When You Look Me in the Eyes, Year 3000”, and two medleys of “Still in Love With You, Australia, Hollywood, Just Friends, Games” and a blend of “Hello Beautiful, Inseparable, and Take a Breath”. The band also sings some of the tunes from their 2008 album, titled “A Little Bit Longer”; these songs included “A Little Bit Longer, Lovebug, Burnin’ Up” and a melody of “Can’t Have You, Sorry, BB Good, Shelf, Got Me Going Crazy, Video Girl, One Man Show, Pushin’ Me Away, and Tonight”. From their 2009 album, titled “Lines, Vines and Trying Times”, the trio sings “Fly With Me”, and refrains from the songs “Hey Baby, Poison Ivy, Don’t Speak, Much Better, World War III, What Did I Do to Your Heart, and Paranoid” as well as a melody of “Turn Right, Before the Storm, and Black Keys”. Bringing it forward to their first album back together as a band, the trio sang songs from their 2019 album, titled “Happiness Begins”, these songs included, compositions of “Comeback, Rollercoaster, Strangers, and Used to Be”; as well as a combination of “Trust, Every Single Time, Happy When I’m Sad, and Don’t Throw it Away”. They also sang the full songs of the more popular tunes from that album, such as “Cool, I Believe, Love Her, Hesitate, Only Human, and Sucker”. From their most recent record, titled “The Album”, they sang “Summer Baby, Vacation Eyes, Sail Away, Little Bird, Waffle House, Montana Sky, Miracle, and Walls”. Finally, they ended the concert with the song they created with Marshmello, titled “Leave Before You Love Me”.
The concert began with an instrumental version of the trio’s song “Wings”, then the three of them came out from various sides of the stage to their song “Celebrate!”. The band then asks the crowd if they are ready to take a trip down memory lane. Following that, a montage begins to play on the big screen, showing the group's first “era” from their self-titled first album, “Jonas Brothers”. The band takes the crowd through each of their “eras”, playing a series of videos in a montage from that year. These videos are compiled of the memories from the album they are about to play, hitting all the nostalgia that their concert brings.
There were two separate stages at the concert, one of which was in the middle of the stadium, and had a piano on it. The brothers did their nostalgic walk to and from the stages that they had previously done in their concerts. They played about five songs on the second stage, where those who bought tickets to be in the “pit” had front-row seats, and were so close that they could touch them.
The band had extremely high energy throughout the entire night, between engaging with the crowd and choreographed dance sequences, it was like they were still in their teens. There were 30-year-olds to newborns, all listening to the tunes. Everyone was on their feet, the entire time, which made for a great atmosphere for the concert.
Seeing that this was a three-hour concert going through each of the trio’s years in the music industry, it poses the question of whether or not other artists that have been around just as long as the Jonas Brothers will do their own version of an “eras tour”, following the trend that Taylor Swift has started.
