Show Your Fall Flare

The chilled afternoons and grey skies of November are finally here, signaling the season of pumpkin drinks, fall foliage, and holiday festivities. Simultaneously, there has been a shift in the world of fashion with a rise of new trends and a resurgence of old ones. Keeping up with the latest patterns in style ensures you will be turning heads this season, and there are plenty of them to explore and incorporate into your wardrobe.

FIFTY SHADES OF BEIGE

The neutral palette is the new color wheel this fall. Lay your bright hues from summer to rest and opt for a more unsaturated closet. Upon first impression, an entirely neutral-toned outfit seems restricting. But, the opportunities for mixing and matching different shades of browns, greys, and creams are endless, allowing space for creative freedom even in a muted wardrobe. Beige is the new black. Expressed through popular looks from influencers such as Kenzie Elizabeth and designers including Net-A-Porter. There is timelessness in completely neutral ensembles, paying homage to the dried, fallen leaves and cinnamon coffees we are sipping this fall.

BIG PANTS, TINY SHIRT

In 2020, the combination of loose-fitting pants with more fitted, cropped tops became highly popularized, especially when popular fashion icons such as Emma Chamberlain were notorious for sporting the style. This trend is back and better than ever, standing the test of time and remaining classic throughout the seasons. However, the ensemble is graduating from just mom jeans to a variety of options. Trouser pants have become all the rage, such as this pair from Nasty Gal. These wide-legged pants offer a loose, business casual influence on any outfit. When paired with a cropped tank or shirt, the two pieces create the perfect balance of oversized and form-fitting pieces that are guaranteed to look flattering on all body types. The possibilities don’t end here. Every outfit needs a splash of texture, and corduroy is fulfilling this role this season. Plenty of different materials have stood on the fall fashion pedestal, from denim to suede, but corduroy trumps them all this season. Corduroy pants act as the perfect way to stay warm while adding a hint of spice to an outfit.

SMALL PURSES

Y2K fashion remains at the forefront of current fashion trends. Yet, this style consists of bright colors and graphic designs, which is the polar opposite of the slow, muted style associated with fall time. However, one component of the Y2K style that is raging this season is the accessorization of small purses. These dainty bags add a small yet powerful embellishment to any autumn look. Sticking with neutral palettes, dozens of retailers offer the perfect mini purse for any individual. Kate Spade includes a classic small bag in its current collection. For a more affordable option, both Amazon and Forever 21 have embraced the mini purse hype and put out inexpensive bags that truly embody the Y2K spirit and intertwine it with modern fall looks.

LONG JACKETS AND SKIRTS

The usage of oversized jackets and skirts juxtaposed with a basic top or cropped tank encaptures the slouchy yet classy style that is trending this season. Corduroy makes a statement in this trend as well. Adding a large corduroy coat to your outfit texturizes the look while offering an extra layer to combat the chill in the air. Other looks utilize the popularity of blazers and combine them with long skirts to achieve a more professional feel. Large overcoats create a chic silhouette on anyone, giving a practical approach to taking on the fall aesthetics. The variety of possible ensembles allows everyone to mix and match pieces that best suit their lifestyles and creative expression while staying warm during the frigid months.

From the pairing of oversized pieces with fitted fabrics to the establishment of neutral tones, these fall trends are must-have essentials for each closet. Rock your trip to the pumpkin patch or your family Thanksgiving dinner with chic, timeless, and warm outfits. These styles serve as an inspiration and guide map to what’s popular this season while still encouraging people to embrace their individuality and incorporate it into their autumn style.
