From canvas to straw, we’ve seen every type of tote bag on our feeds this season. But aside from being the perfect accessory to top off any outfit, they serve a much bigger purpose: being a one-stop shop for everyday essentials. Here’s a rundown on how to turn your purse into a survival kit.

Portable phone charger

The only thing worse than rushing to find an outlet when you’re on two percent is realizing you forgot to bring your phone charger. Portable chargers are a great way to keep you at 100 all day and give your cell the energy boost it needs.

Mints & gum

Coffee breath isn’t quite as appealing as the drink that causes it. Between lunch dates and grocery store runs, these breath fresheners are the best way to keep your mouth minty fresh when your toothbrush is out of reach.

Rollerball perfume

Smelling good never goes out of style. Rather than lugging around an eight-ounce bottle of your favorite scent, grab a rollerball perfume for when you’re on the go. Apply some to your neck, wrists, and the back of your knees for maximum payoff.

Reusable water bottle

Water is everyone’s best friend. The Texas summer heat is slowly rolling around again, and staying hydrated will soon be everyone’s number one priority and concern. Quench your thirst and ditch those plastic bottles by adopting a reusable one.

Advil or Tylenol

Whether name-brand or generic, everyday pain relief medicine is crucial in every bag. Headaches tend to come at the most inconvenient times, so be ready to combat them by always being prepared with a fast-acting solution.

Must-have makeup

Lip gloss, eyebrow gel, blotting powder—the list goes on. Evaluate your makeup routine or lack thereof, and invest in a couple of mini duplicates to keep with you for touch-ups. Throw in a compact mirror, and you'll be photo-ready from dusk to dawn.
