When Life Gives You Lemons…

Within the past few weeks, many influencers have been seen posting links on their Instagram stories directing their audience to their Lemon8 accounts. Lemon8 is a brand new content creation app created by the same company that owns TikTok, and it very well could be a backup plan in case Congress passes the law to ban the company’s most popular, beloved app. Despite fears of losing TikTok, Lemon8 seems to be one of the best new social media apps embodying not only video content, but attributes of Instagram and Pinterest as well. If you are wondering what Lemon8 is, how to use it, or how it compares to alternative social media apps, here is your guide to determine if this new app is worth the recent hype.

So what is so special about this new app when there are so many social media platforms out there? Just one month after its release, Lemon8 placed in the top 10 most downloaded apps. The App Store says, “Lemon8 is a content-sharing platform with a youthful community. Here is where you can discover beautiful, authentic, and diverse content. It is THE destination for sharing and exploring.” There is a following page as well as a “for you” page like TikTok, that generates content recommended for you based on what you engage with. Like Instagram, you can edit videos and photos within the app before posting, but Lemon8 offers a wider variety of templates, stickers, filters, and fonts. Rather than its sole focus on likes and followers like Instagram, Lemon8 is comparable to Pinterest in that the main goal of the app is to get ideas and share products and content. There are many different topics you can search for including fashion, beauty, food, wellness, and travel, making it easy to find any content you are looking for. Another plus is there are no ads on Lemon8 and it is said to be more user-friendly than Pinterest. Lemon8 is much more community driven than Pinterest with its ability to interact with posts and leave comments. Where Instagram is focused on following your friends and sending personal messages, Lemon8 is about aesthetic photos and long captions with female-focused lifestyle content. With the simple interface, it is very easy to figure out and navigate for first-time users.

If you love to share content, Lemon8 is the perfect app to get started. Since it is a new platform, if you find a niche and build consistency, you could have brands approach you and even establish a side income. This app promotes authenticity and simply shares good ideas; it acts as a much-needed safe space in the dark world that social media can easily become. With so many social media platforms out there, Lemon8 is unique in its combination of finding inspiration and sharing the content of your daily life.
