Grab your spooky beverage of choice and a bucket of candy, because it is that time of year again! Halloween is the best holiday and no, this is not up for debate. From the sugar rushes and iconic movies to the trendy costumes, it simply cannot be topped.

Unfortunately, Halloween is going to look extremely different this year. Staying safe means no trick-or-treaters and no parties. We all need to make responsible decisions so that we can soon return to normal. If you choose not to... well, as Max from Hocus Pocus so eloquently puts it, “Say what you want, just don’t breathe on me.”

Here is the thing to remember: You can still have the best Halloween ever.

We are going to let you guys in on a little secret: all the cool kids dress up for Halloween just to sit on their couches and watch scary movies. If you’re feeling a little adventurous? Go to a virtual party.

The best part of Halloween is picking out your costume anyway.

Harry Styles

Besides being an amazing artist and person, Harry Styles is dominating the fashion industry. He is praised for his feminine-inspired menswear looks, showing that toxic masculinity has no place in fashion. Harry’s signature look is a bold high-waisted trouser in a funky pattern and/or color. For your costume, try to find something like this in your wardrobe; even high-waisted blue jeans will do. For the top, look for a long- sleeved button-up. Some of Harry’s most iconic outfits also involve a detailed neckline, whether it is a bow or ruffles.

Mamma Mia- Donna and the Dynamos

It is a go for the go-go boots. Donna wears a lot of mustard and denim blue in the Mamma Mia sequel, Here We Go Again. Grab your flare jeans and pair them with either a bell-sleeve or crop top. Bonus points if you can rope your roommates into doing this with you, completing Donna and the Dynamos.

Fairy

After Stassi and Kylie’s iconic matching costumes from last year, prepare to see fairies all over the ‘gram this Halloween. A pretty dress and pretty wings—that is all it takes. This costume is great if you want to go for a more feminine look. Slip into your favorite pastel mini-dress, then pair with fairy wings and you’re all set. Remember to be generous with glitter on your face. There is no such thing as too much. Ever.

Tiger King

Throwback to the early days of quarantine, when everyone and their grandmother was watching Tiger King. The Tiger King character you choose to go for says a lot about you as a person. Forget enneagrams—are you a Carole Baskin, Joe Exotic, or just a tiger? If you choose to go the Carole/Joe route, Carole Baskin’s iconic piece is her flower crown and lots of tiger print, while Joe’s is his mullet (disclaimer: A-Line Magazine does not advise attempting an at-home mullet). A good rule of thumb is that if you are worried that your outfit is bordering on tacky, do more.

The Bachelorette

This past week, the entire country tuned in to watch Bachelorette Clare’s journey to find love. Is this costume basic? Maybe, but it is relevant and you are guaranteed to look gorgeous. The only items required are a gown and a rose. If you don’t have a rose on hand (which is shocking), embrace the DIY and grab a kitchen spatula to do the job. Once again, bonus points if you can convince your roommates to wear suits.

Honorable Mention: The Sheet Ghost

You have probably seen this trend flooding your TikTok ForYou page. It does not get more “DIY Halloween costume” than the sheet ghost. Can you watch movies in it? Not unless you cut the eye holes big enough. Is it still a vibe? Yes.
