The most wonderful time of the year is finally upon us, bringing with it holiday goodness in every sort, from glittering decor to endless tasty treats. Even though festive gatherings are going to look slightly different this year, they’re sure to bring cheer and joy nonetheless. Whether you’re enjoying quality time with family and friends or attending festivities virtually, you can still look and feel your very best in the perfect holiday outfit. Here are some ideas to inspire your holiday wardrobe, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve.

Monochrome Moment:

Elevate your look by opting for a monochromatic outfit. Dressing in one color may bring about some hesitation, but trust us, dressing in one color is anything but boring. To create your look, decide what color you’d like to dress in and pull out those pieces from your closet. Now the exciting part: start experimenting with different combinations. Before you shy away from combining different shades and textures, remember this is what is going to add dimension to your outfit.

Glitz and Glam:

Let your inner princess have her day and pull out your fullest skirt or your glitziest dress. This season is the perfect time to rock a luxe look of satin, velvet, and sparkle. So get merry with it, throw on your favorite glam number, and pair it with a sparkling pair of heels or boots. For outerwear, top with a long structured coat, or leather or fur jacket. Lastly, pull the look together with glowy makeup and shimmer eyeshadow.

Boho Chic:

Stand out in chic boho favorites like bell sleeves, fringe, and flare jeans. Pick from flowy pieces in your closet, whether that be a floral blouse, a classic swing dress, or even a maxi skirt. Layer your flowy base with a suede or denim jacket (extra credit for sherpa or fringe), and complete the outfit with a pair of suede booties or cowgirl boots. Top it off with a bold lip and a neutral hat.

Suiting:

Nothing says class and sophistication quite like a suit, and the likes of Blake Lively and Megan Markle have proven they’re certainly not just for men anymore. A matching suit set is all you need to look instantly put together and ready to tackle any holiday festivity. Don’t be afraid to play with different colors and textures; try styling a silky shell or cozy turtleneck under the jacket, neutral or bold tones, whichever you prefer. To elevate your look even more, pair with classy heels or loafers, and your favorite statement necklace.

Classic Hollywood:

For a time-honored look for the holiday season, emulate old Hollywood glam that never fails to impress. Put together classic color combinations like black, red, silver, and gold. Channel the great Ashley Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe in a simple, flattering dress silhouette. Style with simple pumps and jewelry, and complete the look with Hollywood waves and signature red lipstick.

Cute and Cozy:

For a casual and comfy holiday outfit, opt for cozy pieces like knit sweaters, toasty scarves, and all things fleece and sherpa. So throw on your comfiest pair of jeans or your favorite leggings, and get layering. Some of our favorite cozy trends this year include shirt jackets, faux fur, and elevated joggers. For a cozy color scheme, opt for a neutral base with pops of classic fall/winter colors like reds and greens. For fashionable footwear, you can stand in all day, pair tall boot socks with riding boots, or low/no heel over-the-knee boots.

The Homebody:

Let’s face it, one of the best parts of the holidays is the fact that laying around in our pajamas all day is totally socially acceptable, especially this year. So the perfect 2020 holiday outfit may just be loungewear and PJ sets. Pull out your coziest sweatpants, flannels, and hoodies. To master the look, pair with the fuzziest socks or warmest slippers.

With all these looks in mind, your holiday outfit is sure to win you best dressed this season. No matter which style you embody, the most important component of your festive attire is you. We hope you’ll be inspired by these ideas and perfect them with your own self-expression.

Most importantly, wherever and however you’re celebrating this year, happy holidays from the A-Line staff to you.
